Children Worth Fighting for

Ethan and Eli

Growing up, twins Ethan and Eli showed extreme athleticism in the boxing ring, so much so their educations were often neglected so they could travel, fight and win.

During their third-grade year, Ethan and Eli arrived at St. Joseph’s Indian School. Academically behind, they resorted to settling any issues on the playground, at school or in their homes with their fists. Throughout their first year, both Ethan and Eli found themselves in many physical altercations with students, their houseparents and teachers.

However, instead of giving up, St. Joseph’s staff decided to fight FOR the boys — not against them.

Instead of removing the boys from school, St. Joseph’s staff quickly wrapped services around both Ethan and Eli. This process identified therapy and cognitive testing as just the thing both boys needed. Through comprehensive therapy, both boys began learning anger-management and conversational skills.

Throughout the past year and a half, Eli and Ethan have thrived — thanks to YOU and the loving care and support of St. Joseph’s dedicated staff.

You may not ever meet the students your gift helps, but never doubt the difference your support makes in the lives of Lakota children like Eli and Ethan.
